The Government of India, vide Notification No. S.O. 1191(E), implemented the provisions of Chapter IV (Contribution), Chapter V (Benefits), and Chapter VI (Adjudication of Disputes and Claims) of the Employees’ State Insurance Act, 1948 (ESI Act), effective from 1st day of April 2023, in all the areas of Gandhinagar district, in the State of Gujarat. Deputy Commissioner Ms. Ashika Jain has directed all government and semi-government offices as well as private institutions of the district to write their signboards in Punjabi language (Gurmukhi script) before February 21, 2023.
Ms. Ashika Jain said that the Punjab government has started its efforts for the promotion of the Punjabi language and it has made it mandatory to write signboards in Punjabi in all government and private institutions before February 21 (International Mother Language Day). She said that in order to give priority to the mother tongue, the Punjab government has taken this decision. So, it is necessary to put up signboards in the Punjabi language in government and semi-government offices, besides boards, corporate offices, educational institutions, and public, private, and commercial establishments.

Procedure for sign up/Registration:-
As required under Business Reforms Action Plan 2022 the following services of application Licenses or renewal of such Licenses by Factories in Puducherry, Mahe and Yanam regions for engaging contract workmen under The Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, 1970 henceforth will be provided through online mode only.
The services shall be availed through online mode only to eliminate the need to submit the applications physically, payment of fees for the services and track their status in each stage. On approval, the final certificate can be downloaded from the online portal anytime.
This will come into force with immediate effect and present practice of V’-‘l’ issuing signed copy of such Certificate(s) is dispensed with immediate effect, except those already applied and under issue with this Office

• To arrive at the daily rate, the monthly rate shall have to be divided by 26 (to be rounded off to the nearest rupee), and to arrive at the weekly rate, the daily rate shall have to be multiplied by 6
• A normal working day shall consist of eight hours of actual work and not less than half an hour of recess, subject to 48 hours of actual work in a week
• The minimum rates of wages are applicable to the employees employed by contractors also
